Scott Beattie from Living Room at W South Beach shares this refreshing beverage recipe. With two different types of vodka and a splash of ginger beer, you're truly in for a treat with this unique beverage.

Ingredients

½ oz. Ginger Shiso Galangal Syrup (recipe follows)
¾ oz. Hangar One Buddha’s Hand vodka
¾ oz. plain vodka
¾ oz. fresh lemon juice
Blueberries
Crushed ice
1 oz. Bundaberg ginger
Beer
Fresh mint

Ginger Shiso Galangal Syrup
(Makes 1 cup, enough for 16 cocktails)
1 cup simple syrup, chilled
2 drops essential oil of ginger
2 drops essential oil of galangal
1 drop essential oil of perilla (shiso)

Steps

  1. Prepare Ginger Shiso Galangal Syrup.

  2. In mixing glass, combine the vodkas, lemon juice and Galangal Syrup and stir. Add the blueberries and enough ice to fill mixing glass.  Cover and shake a few times. 

  3. Add the ginger beer and pour into a tall Collins glass. Garnish with mint and serve.
     

Ginger Shiso Galangal Syrup
Combine the simple syrup and essential oils in airtight container.  Cover and shake well to mix the oils into the syrup.  The syrup will keep for about 2 weeks, refrigerated, in an airtight container.
