Dog Haus

Pasadena, Calif.-based

The chili dog is a signature at Dog Haus, a gourmet hot dog chain that originated in California and now has 35 locations in several states. This dog is topped with the works—cheese, housemade chili, crispy onions and chipotle aioli. It’s hearty fare for hungry fans.

Ingredients

Chipotle aioli

¼ cup chipotle peppers in adobo

½ cup mayonnaise

2 garlic cloves

1½ tbsp. lime juice

Chili dogs

4 beef hot dogs

4 Hawaiian hot dog buns, sliced

¼ cup butter, softened

8 slices white American cheese or Swiss

1 cup housemade chili

½ cup chipotle aioli

½ cup crispy onions

Steps

1.  For chipotle aioli, combine all ingredients in food processor; process until smooth. Transfer to squeeze bottle for use.

2. For chili dogs, grill hot dogs over medium heat on grill pan or in skillet until nicely browned and hot.

3. Spread butter on cut side of buns and toast over medium-high heat.

4. Lay two slices of cheese in each bun overlapping in diamond shape. Place grilled hot dogs in buns; top each with ¼ cup chili. Squeeze chipotle aioli across dogs; top each with crispy onions.
