Beignets are delicious little donuts. Beer and apples in the batter make them delectable. A cardamom sugar coating takes them over the top.

Ingredients

Beignet Batter:
1 egg yolk
8 oz. light beer
3 tbsp. canola oil
2 egg whites
1 cup flour
1⁄2 tsp. salt

6 gala apples
4 cups canola oil, for frying
Cardamom sugar, as needed

Steps

  1. Whisk egg yolk and beer together with oil. Whip egg whites to a hard peak, and combine all batter ingredients. Let rest one hr.

  2. Peel and core apples, cut into sixths, and dip in batter. Drop into oil and turn once, frying until golden brown.

  3. Sprinkle with cardamom sugar.
