Expanding on a program that began last year, the dining department at Vanderbilt University will now enable students to donate side dishes from their meal swipes all year long, the Vanderbilt Hustler reports.

The side dish donation program, which is available at five dining locations on the Nashville campus, was previously an option only at certain times of the year, such as during disaster relief.

The full program was rolled this week rather than at the start of the school year to allow for marketing materials to be developed, Jessica Williams, a marketing manager for Campus Dining, told the student news outlet.

For the most part, funds from the donations will go to an area food bank.
