Vanderbilt Campus Dining is starting fresh in many ways this school year. Formerly known as Vanderbilt Dining Services, the new name is just the beginning, says Camp Howard, director.

“With new facilities, a new logo and re-invented brand comes a refreshed attitude of exceptional food and service,” Howard says. A renewed focus on fresh, wholesome food is part of the updated mission.

The Rand Dining Center has been renovated and reprogrammed over the past few months in a joint effort by Vanderbilt Campus Dining, the Dean of Students Office, student groups, local design firms and foodservice consultants.

The result is a more user-friendly environment. Chef James Bistro and the main area of Rand will become one contiguous space, centered on a new expanded salad bar. The new design was created in an effort to increase variety and flexibility of food options and improvement of traffic flow.

Howard also says chefs have more creative freedom than ever, “to create flavorful menus specifically for our Vanderbilt community using fresh, local and sustainable ingredients.”
