The University of Tennessee is closing its Varsity Inn dining outlet, angering students who had signed up for meal plans based on the venue located in the Gibbs Hall residence complex, reports the Daily Beacon campus paper. The school says the closing is due to finances, as Varsity Inn had averaged losses of up to $800,000 over the past three years, and students affected by the closing are being offered an alternative meal plan.
