Urban Eats, one of half a dozen retail dining stations in Stony Brook University’s East Side Dining venue, debuted four over-the-top milkshakes created by East Side Dining Executive Chef Jason Tepper at the start of the current spring semester.

“Jason is known for his out of the box thinking and his specialty is street foods with a twist,” offers Angela Agnello, director of marketing & communications for the Faculty Student Association at Stony Brook.

He certainly demonstrated that talent with his milkshake creations. The four varieties Tepper came up with are:

Cinnamon Toast Crunch, consisting of a vanilla frosted rim with Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal topped with two churros, whipped cream & dulce de leche drizzle;

Cotton Candy Delight, also with a vanilla frosted rim, this one with blue, pink and pearl chocolate topped with a pink lollipop, blue/pink rock candy, whipped cream and cotton candy;

Cake Batter, with vanilla frosted rim with rainbow sprinkles topped with a funfetti cake slice, whipped cream, rainbow sprinkles and a cherry; and

Peanut Butter, featuring Nutella and peanut butter frosted rim with chocolate gems and peanut butter cups topped with a sugar daddy, pretzel rods, chocolate covered pretzels, whipped cream, caramel and chocolate drizzle.

Students’ favorite flavor in the early going is the Cinnamon Toast Crunch with the Cake Batter as a close second, Agnello says, adding that most are purchased in the evening after 6 p.m. Urban Eats is open from 8 a.m. to midnight during the week and noon to midnight on weekends.

In addition to the milkshakes, the station offers breakfast sandwiches, Texas toast, French toast sticks, breakfast burritos and a variety of street foods, smoothies, bowls and grill foods.

Notably, each week students vote through Stony Brook Dining’s electronic polling feature to text in which street foods they would like to see featured on the menu the following week.
