In an effort to fight campus food insecurity, the University of Tennessee has launched a student meal share program, the Big Orange Meal Share.

Under the program—which made its debut this month—students can donate any or all five of the free guest meals they receive with their meal plan each semester to peers in need. Faculty, staff and alumni can also make contributions, officials say.

“Unfortunately, some students aren’t just worried about their grades, they also have to worry about where they will get their next meal. This program is one big way that we can help address that problem,” Melissa Shivers, associate vice chancellor of student life and dean of students at UT, said in a statement.
