Tufts University made sure it prepared for major snowstorm with extra supplies, alternate staffing strategies.

Nemo, the major snowstorm that hit the Northeast over the weekend, forced onsite dining operations in institutions that must continue to feed customers to deal with an emergency that cancelled food deliveries, hampered staff from coming to work and threatened power outages and other challenges.

Tufts University in Medford, MA, stocked extra supplies and arranged for alternates who live nearby as well as student employees to make up any staffing shortfall, reports the Tufts Daily campus paper. The school, which has some 3,200 resident students, kept two dining hall open those retail operations were shuttered.
