University of Massachusetts Dining Services celebrated the completion of a two-year, $15.5 million revitalization of its 46,000-square-foot Hampshire Dining Commons facility with a gala opening on Tuesday, September 10.

Originally constructed in 1966, Hampshire sports a contemporary New England theme with 12 concepts that emphasize serving minimally processed foods and more plant-based items at peak season, less red meat, more sustainable seafood and healthier oils, fats and beverages.

Guest chefs invited to celebrate the grand opening included Mia Pham, who showcased South East Asian dishes; Jehangir Mehta, who prepared Indian cuisine; and Bruno Wehren, who cooked Mediterranean inspired meals.
