This week on Food Management FM announces 2023 Best Concept Award winners ranked as the weeks to story. Food Management’s Best Concept Awards program is designed to recognize innovative and creative initiatives undertaken by onsite dining operations in the markets it covers, including K-12 schools, colleges, healthcare and senior living facilities, business/industry locations and sports/entertainment venues. The awards are presented in various sub-categories covering the different aspects of onsite dining operations, such as menus, customer service initiatives and special events, plus an overall Best of Show award that recognizes exemplary achievement across multiple categories.
In other news, the District of Columbia Hospital Association (DCHA) Program Services Company recently hosted the third annual Healthy Hospital Initiative (HHI) Cooking Competition, a vegan cooking competition for DC hospitals in which the secret ingredient this year was carrots. MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital emerged as the overall winner and also scooped awards for best entrée with its Open-Faced Purple Carrots Ravioli; best dessert with Vegan Carrot Halwa Pistachio Trifle; and its chef Artis Crum receiving a taste & appearance award while the best side dish went to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital for its Carrot Cilantro Couscous Salad.
