Sonoma (CA) State University Dining Services is sourcing locally grown fresh organic produce from a current student at the school, reports the Sonoma State Star. The student, Mac Hart, is a junior environmental studies major who started a SPIN (Small Plot INtensive) farm about a year ago on a plot near the campus (SPIN farming methods allow small plots to produce an optimum amount of crops as quickly as possible from a minimal footprint in order to maximize revenue potential). The enterprise proved successful after the school agreed to begin purchasing Hart's produce last spring.
