Hogarth Dining Hall at Mississippi University for Women (MUW) is undergoing a transformation that extends from dining options to décor. The primary dining outlet on campus—the only other ones are a pair of retail operations, one of which is an all grab and go station—Hogarth now features a wide variety of fresh food options designed to satisfy a wide range of diet choices with a buffet style environment with 10 stations: Classics, Innovations, Deli, Grill, Pizza/Pasta, Salad Bar, Vegan Bar, Sizzling Salads, Simple Servings, and Dessert, with the menu changing daily.

A highlight is the Simple Servings station, a longstanding Sodexo concept that offers a menu without milk, eggs, wheat, soy, shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts, and gluten, the most common food allergens that collectively account for 90% of all food allergy reactions.

“We have had an amazing response from the students and faculty with our Simple Servings allergen free options," says MUW Executive Chef Matthew Molina. “Students have been asking questions to understand and experience these flavorful dishes.”

These Mindful options showcase balanced meals through healthy ingredients, he adds. “Grilled proteins, roasted and braised vegetables, gluten free pastas are a few of items our guests are able to experience here at the W’s Simple Servings station.”

Looking ahead, MUW Dining plans to refresh its approach to the “grab and go” concept, introduce new delivery options, and refresh seating areas in retail locations including Subway Lounge and Common Grounds which serves Starbucks.

Weekdays, Hogarth is open 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. for breakfast, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for lunch and 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. (6:30 on Fridays) for dinner. On weekends, there is brunch from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and dinner between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Despite its name, MUW is a co-educational public university with an undergraduate enrollment of around 2,400, with men comprising about a fifth of that total.
