Northeastern University expands dining options with new taco truck

Chartwells Higher Ed at Northeastern University has partnered with Foodworks and local izakaya restaurant UNI to bring a UNI food truck to the school’s Boston campus. 

Students will be able to grab street food-inspired dishes such as carnitas tacos with onion, cilantro and salsa verde; jackfruit pibil tacos with spicy pickled onion and more. The trailer will accept credit and debit cards as well as the school’s I.D. cards.

“As our students navigate the new normal of quarantine and healthy distancing, they don’t have as many dining options as previous years,” Tim Cooney, resident district manager for Chartwells at Northeastern University, said in a statement. “So we thought, ‘if they can’t go to the restaurant, let’s bring the restaurant to them.’ Our students deserve something fun and special as they close out a challenging semester.”

Foodworks was established as a restaurant incubator two years ago by Eurest, the corporate dining division of Compass Group, which also owns Chartwells.
