Before classes were canceled for coronavirus, the Florida State University (FSU) community gathered for what they didn’t know would be the last food-focused festival for a while. Finding a silver lining, let’s virtually take in the sights and flavors of the Calle Ocho event, named for a famous street in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood and its corresponding festival.

“Calle Ocho was the biggest and best dining event of the year, and it served up an authentic taste of home for the large population of students from South Florida,” says David Heller, FSU/Sodexo marketing pro. “We transformed the dining hall to look, sound and smell like Miami’s Calle Ocho (8th Street) festival.”

The festival, renowned for its Latin food, music and culture is a symbol of community togetherness accompanied by many different foods, something we certainly hope will once again be part of life on campuses like FSU everywhere. For now, experience it virtually through this gallery.
