Elon (NC) University has opened its new 24,000-sq.ft. Colonnades Dining Hall. Built at a cost about $7 million over a period of 18 months, Colonnades includes a full-service restaurant called the 1889 Grill Room as well an all-you-can-eat residential dining hall with outlets such as Isabella’s, which features a Mongolian grill and international cuisine; Tuscany, which serves pizzas from a wood stone oven and other Mediterranean food; and Bread Basket, which offers sandwiches and soups as well as dessert selections. Another area called the Fountain Market is a deli featuring Boar’s Head branded sandwiches, meats and cheese along with fresh tossed salads and organic snacks like trail mix and chocolate bars. Elon’s dining operations are managed by Aramark.
