East Carolina University Dining Services has begun recycling cooking oil and donating it to the local Pitt County school district as biodiesel to power its buses, reports the East Carolinian campus paper. East Carolina had already been recycling its cooking oil but this initiative keeps the product in the local economy while helping the school system, ECU officials say. So far, over 600 gallons of biodiesel have been donated to Pitt County Schools.
