Napa Valley (CA) College has discontinued its campus dining operations and turned to independent food trucks to provide students with foodservice, reports the Napa Valley Register. The 15 trucks engaged by the school pay $50 a day for the right to operate on campus. They will rotate through with an average of six onsite each day from 11 am to 2 pm Monday through Thursday.
The college says it is saving up to $20,000 in kitchen maintenance costs by not operating its own dining facilities. It cancelled a contract with Taher, Inc., a foodservice management company that had been operating its onsite dining program.
