Pittsburg State University invited chef Murat Er to prepare German food for students in its student center and dining hall, The Collegio reports.

Chef Er created and handed out free samples of traditional German fare to students over a two-day period. On the menu were roasted pork belly, spatzle, semolina porridge, bread pudding, flatbread and homemade dumplings with cabbage topped with a honey and vinegar gravy.

Students said they were happy to have the opportunity to sample a different cuisine and hoped that Sodexo, the school’s foodservice vendor, would offer more such events.

“I love that they have stuff like this,” student Hillary Hurtado told The Collegio. “When you come to the dining hall, you always expect to see something different and it’s really nice to see that they are incorporating different cultures.”
