College dining trending: Sodexo partners with HelloFresh; UCLA chefs find new ways to connect with customers

In this month’s recap of the Top 5 most popular C&U Food Management articles, Sodexo partners with HelloFresh on meal kits to college students ranked as the week’s top story. The major food service company’s alliance with a leading meal kit company will offer delivery of HelloFresh and EveryPlate meal kits to students at more than 300 U.S. colleges and universities. Sodexo’s move with HelloFresh seems to indicate its anticipation that remote meal delivery programs have market potential across multiple segments going forward. In other news, contract management company Aladdin partners with Terrence J to promote healthy meals in HBCUs. An alliance between campus dining provider Aladdin Campus Dining and actor/producer Terrence J is helping to promote healthier dining at Historically Black Colleges & Universities where Aladdin manages the dining program. Statistics show that Black Americans are twice as likely to die from conditions like diabetes so Aladdin chefs and dietitians are working to create dining programs for students that are culturally relevant and comforting without sacrificing nutrition, balance and flavor, including dishes from the domestic Black experience as well as from cuisine traditions in regions like Africa and the Caribbean.
