Barnard College is extending mandatory meal plans to upperclassmen beginning next fall. The school, a women’s liberal arts college located in the Morningside Heights area of Manhattan, had already required first-year and resident upperclassmen to purchase unlimited meal plans. The new requirement means all sophomores, juniors and seniors will have to purchase at least a limited meal plan, whether they live on campus or not. It coincides with the scheduled opening in January of the Diana Center, a new student center complex that includes onsite dining facilities. The Diana Center, under construction for the past three years, replaces the older McIntosh student center facility.
