The largest public university in the U.S. by enrollment, ASU requires all first-year students to purchase a meal plan. Options range from an unlimited access plan to one offering only a minimal amount of M&G dining dollars (for upperclassmen only).

The large number of retail dining outlets includes familiar national brands like Starbucks, Subway, Jamba Juice, Qdoba, Taco Bell, Einstein Bagels, Burger King and Chick-fil-A.

Recent developments include the relocations of the Starbucks and Einsteins stations, the former to a larger location that incorporates ASU traditions through the store design and adds an outside patio.

In fall 2013, the Freshii fresh food concept opened its first store in Arizona on the ASU campus, the Burning B Café was converted into a “We Proudly Serve Starbucks” location and the renovated Manzanita Residential Restaurant was opened.

Also in 2013, during the Clinton Global University Initiative held on campus, ASU and Aramark collaborated on the Zero Waste Goal of 90% or more waste diverted from the landfill (in fact, 99.1% diverted on day one and 94.6% on day two).

Aramark at ASU is composting all pre- and post-consumer waste at all residential restaurants on the ASU-Tempe campus and this year is extending composting at the Memorial Union to the back of house operations.
