The Scarlet Latte Cafe in the Archibald S. Alexander Library on the campus of Rutgers University is closing due to lack of sufficient traffic, reports the Daily Targum campus paper. It will be replaced by a bank of vending machines serving coffee, cold beverages and snacks.

The cafe was operated by Rutgers Dining Services, which paid no rent to the library for the space. Customer traffic was sparse outside of mornings and late afternoons for coffee, and many of the sales were to either adult staff or graduate students, the article says.
