Last summer, Carolinas Medical Center/Atrium Health hosted a Kids Eat Free program in partnership with its foodservice vendor, Sodexo, providing nearly 3,500 free meals to children throughout the season. Students could choose from a variety of menu offerings in the hospital cafeteria each day, including proteins, whole grains, fruits, vegetables and low-fat or fat-free milk. Kids Eat Free also offers students easy access to local, fresh produce, featuring items included in a recipe of the week.
