We feed our football athletes a “lucky meal” on game days. We originally started with pasta and mandolin vegetables, but the pasta seemed to make them sluggish, so we decided to give them something different: just a turkey sandwich on a whole-wheat bun and a baked potato. This combination with fruit, a light salad with a vinaigrette dressing and plenty of water seemed to do the trick. They had more energy, felt lighter, went out and won! We continued to feed them this meal every game and it became their lucky meal, taking them to second place in the state championships.
