Clarkson University students are protesting its university’s foodservice vendor, Aramark, claiming the food it serves is both expensive and of low quality, the Watertown Daily Times has learned.
More than 650 students at the Potsdam, N.Y., university have signed a petition claiming that Aramark is driven by their bottom line and does not care what it feeds students, according to the Daily Times.
In the petition, the students call for the university to either replace Aramark or self-operate like another local university recently decided to do.
Kelly Chezum, VP for external business relations and marketing at Clarkson, is asking students to submit feedback through online surveys, comment cards and speaking to managers, according to the website.
“We have asked our students to use these open channels of communication in each dining location, seek out the dining manager and go through the dining committee, so we can address specific concerns of individuals with unique needs, as well as get input for our long-term dining strategy,” she told the Daily Times via email.
